The Niagara Falls Adventure
By: Masha Persanova

It was my second visit to Niagara Falls. And again I found myself forgetting about time while admiring the tremendous volume of blue-green water that never stops flowing. As I watched the falls I started to realize that I also wanted to be part of them. Id love to merge with this stormy flow.

The attraction of this natural phenomenon is inexplicable. Plus it was a very hot day. But I looked down to numerous rocks down the Falls and thought that it might be the last thing I would ever do if I decide to plunge into the water and go down 180 feet.

Nevertheless this day I still had a chance to approach the Falls as close as possible and even to get wet to the skin. A ride on The Maid of the Mist was the answer. From the deck of the boat I could experience a whole new perspective on the mighty cataracts.

We cruised right to the base of the American and magnificent Canadian Horseshoe Falls. We were feeling cool mist on our face, it was like a slight storm, and the hooded raincoats (provided by the boats staff) didnt save us from being completely wet. The sensation was almost like we were taking a shower under the Falls. The wonderful experience of hearing the thunder of the falls echo against the rocks and being under a bright double rainbow was a half hour thrill of a lifetime.

The attraction The Maid of the Mist was open in 1846 and has served millions of visitors, including presidents, kings and movie stars. After his ride President Theodore Roosevelt said: The ride was the only way to fully realize the grandeur of the Great Falls Niagara.
