Light Affection was my last stop but I found it to be something different for a change. Basically, the way it works is, you send in a picture of something that you like. A snapshot or whatever. They then use a special tool to carve a special material based on the photo that you send. It is then placed into a frame. When it is turned on the photo lights up. I thought it looked somewhat like a night light. Prices start and 45.00.
A day or so ago I wrote an article about getting through the holidays while still grieving over a loved one. While wanting to be sensitive and still yet find something that would be special for my mother who lost her father last year, I found personalizationmall.com. There are all sorts of gifts to give those who are grieving the loss of a loved one. I think the prices are this site are very fair and quite reasonable. The items look to be of good quality and they are things that can really touch a persons thought. It’s the way to go when looking for a personal gift with a special touch, without spending a fortune.
I also found some pretty nice ideas at Uncommongoods.com. Here is where you will find something for the person on your list who has gone “green”. All of the items on this site are for the good of nature or have been made from recycled goods. They range in items from dining good and kids stuff to jewelry and home décor. Prices range quite a bit on this site so I suppose it is all about the person you are buying for and what is within your budget on this one.
The worse part about holiday shopping is trying to find something for those who have it all or maybe there is someone on your list that doesn’t like anything. The hardest for me is when there is someone on my list that isn’t a “close’ friend, therefore I don’t know them very well, leaving me with an unclear idea of their likes or dislikes. Trying to find a gift that is “generic” but not “cheesy” can be tough. C’mon we all have at least ONE person who makes us want to scream when it comes to trying to find the perfect or even decent gift for them. Being that I have a few of “those folks” on my list and I have been doing a little searching, I figured I would share all that I found with you.
I started out at a little site that I stumbled upon called You Nique Boutique. They were a bit on the pricy side but they did have some really cute stuff that could all be personalized. My favorites there are the hand painted plate ore three dimensional wall art. Both of them are personalized based on the caricatures that you design. It is a great gift for a grandmother or for someone with a big family. Personally, I am going to have one made for myself with all of my daycare kids on them!
