Event Details That 1 Guy + Wolff
Date: 3/15/2013 until 3/16/2013
Time: 11:00 pm to 12:45 am
Location: 227 Maple Avenue East, Vienna, VA 22180 (View Map)

Description: With an extensive and amazing track record of unique and imaginative performances featuringhis curious instrument and copious amounts of originality, Mike Silverman aka That1Guy has set himself apart as a true one-of-a-kind talent that rivals any other artist currently in the entertainment industry. Averaging 150-200 shows a year all over North America and Canada, he has been a consistent favorite at such festivals as: Wakarusa, Electric Forest, Big Day out, All Good, Bella, High Sierra, Summer Meltdown, Montreal Jazz Festival, and many more. He was also the ʻTap Water Awardʼ winner at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival for best musical act. His legendary collaboration and multiple tours with Buckethead as The Frankenstein Brothers has further cemented his virtuoso story as a creative visionary as well. His innovation continues to soar with the announcement of a new tour, That1Guy & The Magic Pipe Present: An Evening of Musical Magical Wonder... The Likes of Which Ye Haven't Yet Seen, kicking off in the early spring of 2013. Along with his pioneering main instrument, The Magic Pipe, a monstrosity of metal, strings, and electronics, facilitates the dynamic live creation of music and magic in ways only That1Guy can conjure, expect to see magic as well now integrated into the already clever performance. With this addition of incorporating magic seamlessly into his live shows, he has legitimately achieved an all inclusive audio/visual performance unlike anything experienced before. "So much of my music has miraculous qualities to it because itʼs hard to tell whatʼs going on. There are lots of slights of hand and sonic misdirection. It feels like I was meant to do magic".

Dave Brewer and the Pre-K Kings
Date: 3/16/2013
Time: 11:30 am to 12:30 pm
Location: 227 Maple Avenue East, Vienna, VA 22180 (View Map)

Description: Dave has been teaching young children the building blocks of music for 15 years. He knows what works; talking to children as equals and not watering down the songs into goofy nonsense. Dave uses real blues, rock, jazz and classical styles to create an experience that stays with children and becomes a resource to them when they are on their own. He develops a relationship where they are filled with joy when they know they are going to have their music time together. You can tell in class that Dave feels the same joy. Using stories, props, magic tricks and a constant thread of humor, children learn to read music and basic music theory while suddenly finding themselves dancing because they can't help it! When parents sit in they can tell right away that Dave is a parent too and he knows how to make the adults laugh on another level. Dave provides lesson plans for ages 4-12 mos., 12-18mos., 18-24 mos., 24-36 mos. 3-4 yrs., preK.

An Afternoon with Lilt
Date: 3/16/2013
Time: 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm
Location: 227 Maple Avenue East, Vienna, VA 22180 (View Map)

Description: efinition: lilt noun ˈlilt 1: a spirited and usually cheerful song or tune 2: a rhythmical swing, flow, or cadence 3: a springy buoyant movement... “Lilt” -- a duo consisting of Tina Eck on flute and tinwhistle and Keith Carr on bouzouki and banjo -- are trying to impersonate all of the aforementioned definitions of their name with their music. They met in the Washington DC session scene some years back and found that “flute and zouk” were a good instrumental match for what they love to play: traditional dance music from Ireland. Jigs and reels, polkas and hornpipes, the occasional slow air or song. Lilt loves and tries to capture the essentials of Irish traditional music: boundless energy, wildness and melancholy. They perform regularly across the Mid-Atlantic region, with frequent appearances at concerts and festivals. Their second CD, "Onward", has been highly praised in the Irish music press and is receiving radio airplay on traditional music programs in the US, Ireland, and Europe.

Heather Mae's Birthday Bonanza Heather Mae + Taylor Carson + Dave Farah + Crys Matthews + Zero Merc
Date: 3/16/2013
Time: 7:00 pm to 9:30 pm
Location: 227 Maple Avenue East, Vienna, VA 22180 (View Map)

Description: “[Mae's] songs are charming even outside the context of the original [“One Year of Songs”] project, and she captures her prolific streak with a reflective sigh.” - The Washington Post While most attendees at an industry conference in New York were wistfully sighing over their coffees and gazing at the room’s blank white walls, Heather Mae was staring them down with the colors of fierce creativity--and she hasn’t stopped. Hidden beyond the maze of dull chairs and heavy bricks of PowerPoint text was the speaker’s pipedream suggestion. While most of the uninspired audience dismissed the idea of writing a song every day for a year, Heather Mae became relentlessly committed to the challenge. Sparking a 365 day journey, she trekked through over 30 states, making footprints of over 7,000 lyrics and 100+ artist collaborations. Her music is supported by an ever-changing cast of complementary musicians known as “The Make Believe,” some of whom she met during this project. Taking step one on October 1, 2010, Heather Mae is reaching another landmark 2 years later, releasing her LP “One Year of Songs.” Though Heather Mae channels the influence of traditional singer/songwriters like Ingrid Michelson, Anna Nalick, and Nora Jones, she (unsurprisingly) is willing to step out of this comfort zone, layering haunting but comfortable harmonies a la the Fleet Foxes or Barenaked Ladies. Rounded out by strategic guitar turns, her sound emits the same clarity that’s reflected in her lyrics. Heather Mae’s music could show up on your local radio station or the next Garden State-esque soundtrack. It’s the seasoning of her yearlong commitment that gives birth to this rare flexibility, having opened her musical identity to each experience of the project.
