Description: “Dance Dreams in Black & White” For BalletNova Spring Performance Performance to Include Alumnae Mary Beth Hansohn BalletNova presents it’s Spring Performance on Friday, April 29 at 7:30 PM; Saturday, April 30 at 7:30 PM, and Sunday, May 1 at 3:00 PM at the Thomas Jefferson Community Theatre (125 South Old Glebe Road, Arlington, VA). Entitled “Dance Dreams in Black & White,” the performance features several dance works in both ballet and modern dance: the “Dream Scene from Don Quixote” and “A Moment to Muse” (both choreographed by Nancie Woods); “City Thoughts” by Constance Walsh; and “Unnatural Selection” choreographed by alumnae Mary Beth Hansohn and husband James Graber. Dream Scene from Don Quixote Originally staged for The Center Dance Company by Louisville Ballet principals Elizabeth Hartwell and Clark Reid in 1997. After tilting at the windmill, the injured Don Quixote rests on the grass and has a fantastic dream of his beloved Dulcinea. A Moment to Muse Choreography - Nancie Woods Pianist: Linda Ng A neo-classical abstract ballet for 5 female dancers accompanied by a Solo pianist. Unnatural Selection Choreography - Mary Beth Hansohn and James Graber A contemporary ballet pas de deux created by BalletNova (formerly Arlington Center for Dance/Center Dance Company) alumnae Mary Beth Hansohn and husband James Graber. City Thoughts – World Premiere Choreography - Constance Walsh An inventive look at a dancer’s life in New York – experimenting with styles, falling in love, and a humorous look at dealing with the overwhelming pace of the New York scene.
